The Business Academy is a 3 year pathway program at Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco. The academy is a part of the San Francisco Unified School District's Career Technical Education Pathways.
No matter what career students plan to enter, having some basic business knowledge and knowledge on money management will help students become more successful. Classroom learning is project based and technology is integrated throughout the course. Businesspersons are regular visitors to the classroom to provide real world knowledge and experience consisting of guest speaking and mentorships for Business Academy students. Throughout the academy, there are opportunities to take part in job shadows (day at a business), office visits, and field trips to expose students to the world of work and industries. Student begin their journey Fall Semester of their Sophomore year. Between their junior and senior year in the academy, students have an opportunity to take part in a paid internship and attend classes at City College San Francisco (UC and CSU transferable). Students build work and academic resumes, participation in a small learning community, build skills in technology, business and project management, and marketing and branding, network with working professionals in the field, and compete in business plan competitions for prize money and trips.
